It's been a busy week telling stories. Most of them are over on the CCF site, so you can stop by and check out your favorites. Onto the community newsy stuff:
๐ฅ Get ready for food from the farm + goodies in your freezer ๐ชBaked treats are delicious, but weโve got a new CSA/B box coming to Chadds Ford thatโs even Better Than Baked. A collaboration between OsoSweet Bakery Cafe and Little Thistle Farms, this combo CSA/B (โcommunity-supported agriculture/bakeryโ) box includes seasonal produce from Little Thistle Farms alongside fresh and frozen ready-to-bake treats from OsoSweet. ๐ญ 24/7 access to lemon blueberry scones in my freezer is going to be legit dangerous. ๐๐ซ
The Brandywine Museum & Conservancy has been very busy! The annual Bike the Brandywine event is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, and registration is now open. Secure your spot! Meanwhile, they announced TODAY that they've got a $100 million campus expansion in the works! Isn't that fancy? ๐๐ป That should pair quite nicely with Walkable Chadds Ford. Now imagine if Walkable Chadds Ford starts at the renovated Brandywine Museum and ends at Painter's Folly, a house open to the public. That's more than just fancy! Fast fingers needed for Delco Gives and the Rachel Kohl Community LibraryDo you have $10 to spare to help out the library? All the details on this fun and fast-paced fundraiser for our local community library. It all adds up! What can we manifest in Painters Crossing???!Last week, just for fun, I posed the question to the community here, on Facebook, and on Instagram, asking what people would like to see in the new retail and restaurant space currently being constructed at Painters Crossing. What could it hurt to let commercial developers know what we hope to see popping up in new spaces around Chadds Ford? Friends, you understood the assignment. You offered so many good suggestions. Click through to see the winners and everything neighbors recommended. There were some clear themes, but also plenty of diversity in the suggestions.
Chadds Ford Township Residents Association's roadside clean-up was a soaring successโCheck out the records they set this year, thanks to all the volunteers who showed up to help! ๐ Spring is springing (sort of, but summer is coming) ๐Got kiddos that need a place to play? Did you know there's more than a handful of playgrounds in and around Chadds Ford? Check out the list. Let me know what I missed! Art you glad we went? ๐ Sure are!Chadds Ford Elementary Parents' Night Out was a spectacular success. Such a fun way to enjoy the fancy museum and hang out with friends. See the highlights! ๐ญ Ponder ThisIn this section, I share book recommendations, articles, podcasts, and other links I think Chadds Ford neighbors might find interesting. Let me know what you think. Currently reading Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell. Big fan of the author. Have you read it? I know that how we dress communicates something about us, but should it? Maybe don't judge a book by its cover? Or what if expectations change over time? For years (decades?), a handful of members of Congress have been trying to ban stock trading by... members of Congress. It's seriously egregious insider trading that is the epitome of "rules for thee, but not for me." I worked at a public accounting firm for 15 years, and I could not invest in any of the firm's audit clients (like... literally the whole globe!). In short, people in public accounting practice next to no individual stock trading because it's too risky to accidentally trade client securities. What Congress pretends is a hard thing to execute is literally already happening every day in corporate America. Just pass the damn law. -- I don't even have a link because just Google it. It's everywhere. ๐ Solar power is coming.... ๐ Here's one example. The new Banksy statue is perfection! ๐ฏ Art is a powerful messenger. โThey want us to believe that renewable energies are "unreliable." Don't believe them. And relative to what? โจ Loving Connect Chadds Ford โจWhile I donโt have any secrets behind paywalls, did you know you can choose to become a paid subscriber if you value Connect Chadds Ford and itโs within your budget? No pressure, but if you feel compelled to upgrade to a paid subscription, I wonโt be mad. And if youโre already a paid subscriber, thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
