Quick chuckle for all the current, former, and future UCF parents who have/get to use RevTrak. For non-UCF parents, it is the system we use to pay various school fees. I was paying some fees recently (which I'm fine paying). I couldn't help but laugh at the system that asks me if I would like to "Continue Shopping" for school fees, like I'm on the hunt for a summer sundress. No, thank you. I would, in fact, NOT like to continue shopping for school fees. But alas... we must. Enjoy the laugh at my expense. Onto the community newsy stuff: 🧡 Stretch your hips and open your heartLocal yoga studio, The Yoga Space, has a world-traveling yogi coming to teach this weekend. He has a wealth of experience in the practice, developed through studies in Costa Rica, Peru, and more. Learn more and get your tickets for the Sunday morning workshop before they sell out! All the details here. 🏬 Y'all understood the assignment!Painter's Crossing is getting a new retail and restaurant space, so I suggested we play a little game. Let's share our ideas about what should go there. What's the worst that can happen? I provided more information about the new space I received from the developer, Henderson Group. There were a few suggestions on Instagram, though Facebook saw the majority of the responses. I'm working on compiling the results now (and I'll send them back to Henderson because... why not?). I'll let you know the themes. If you haven't seen it yet, check out the post with renderings of what's to come! 🎶 Magic music at Mattock SchoolNo matter if music is 'in your bones' or feels totally foreign to you. Dave Mattock of Mattock School of Music thinks music is for everyone. I loved interviewing him and asking him about the business, as well as tossing out some questions on the popularity of vinyl and where he sees AI showing up in the world of music. Even if you don't have kids in the program, it's a fun way to support a wonderful community organization. Check out the story! 💭 Ponder ThisIn this section, I share book recommendations, articles, podcasts, and other links I think Chadds Ford neighbors might find interesting. Let me know what you think. 🗣️ The commencement speech about Durable Hope that a coordinated crew of extremist politicians in Utah thought (pretended to think, let's be serious, it's performative 🙄) was too divisive and should thus be canceled (out of supposed respect for a man whose platform was focused on free speech... oh the irony). GTFOH. In the speech, she asks: "What will the world inherit from you?" Not so different from last week, when Trevor Noah asked: "Who will you be when history calls?" So who will you be? What will you leave as your legacy? What will you bequeath to those trailing behind us? 🌱 "This is why the best thing you can teach your kids isn’t a technical skill—it’s adaptability. Teach them self-reliance. Teach them how to learn. Teach them how to dream." Ultimately, we curate a career garden instead of climb a career ladder. 🌎 From a company that builds energy infrastructure in emerging markets and the US: "The country that we work in that has the most geopolitical, foreign exchange, and security-related risks thus far at Energea in the last five years has been the United States." Strikes me as something to reflect on, considering we were once the bastion of reliability in global markets. What are we doing?! What are we giving up, and for what? 💖 A reminder for all the parents. You've got this. 📚 These baddies are making a comeback, and there are six of them within a few miles of Chadds Ford, some of which are quite new and showing that the trend is holding here as well.
