Coming to you a bit late this week. It's been a busy one. Better late than never? βοΈ What's really inside Craig Williams' signature energy bill?Craig Williams has been touting his signature energy bill for more than a year. But there's a lot more to it that he's not telling you about. The bill is a wolf in sheep's clothing, and you deserve to know. I've taken a more technical dive into the details in the past. This week I shared a piece that hopefully makes the contrast between what he says about the bill and what the bill actually does clearer, so you can make an informed decision about his biggest campaign talking point. Read it here. The carelessness with which he talks about this bill gets bolder by the day, including in his newsletter from today. Sigh...
πͺ· Honoring the rich-to-fading life of floral artInspired by the whimsical and folklore spirit of the Brandywine Valley, this Chadds Ford native artist creates dried floral and foraged art arrangements. From beehives and bones to beautiful dried flowers she grows in her own garden, Ryan Vai creates pieces to brighten up your space. Learn more about her and her work here! π¨ You can be an artist too!Have you heard of Free Range Art Studio? Located at Thornton (kind of behind Costco), this art studio hosts a TON of really neat classes, from soap making and pottery to painting and felt work. They have classes for adults and kids. It's not right in Chadds Ford, but it's well worth a look if you have a little creative itch you're looking to scratch. Check out the studio and the classes here. πͺ΄ Have you heard of Plant BINGO?The Rachel Kohl Seed Library hosts plant BINGO each fall, and it's been such a fun event! The event raises funds for the seed library, and winners take home all sorts of plant-related items (including plants)! It's this Sunday, October 4. Check-in starts at 1:30 pm. All the details and a link to sign up here. Don't miss it. Get ready to flex your muscles πͺπ»A new class is in town, and your muscles are calling for it. The Yoga Space is expanding its offerings with a virtual weekly strength training class. The studio is hosting an in-person workshop this Sunday, October 4, for anyone who wants to learn more about what to expect from the class. Then the weekly class starts on Mondays from 6-6:45 am, and you don't have to leave your home to participate. Get that workout in and get on with your day! All the details here. Have you been to The Village yet?The Village, a community gathering group (mostly for women) just released their fall calendar and they have a ton of events. Book clubs, Group Chat, Sunday Club, Crafternoons, holiday fun, community events, exercise classes, Mothers Circle, and more. Be sure to check out their calendar on Instagram or on their website. There are so many different options to find community with neighbors! π Calling all businesses who want to connect with local parents!Mark your calendars for this year's Chadds Ford Community Association Trunk-or-Treat at Chadds Ford Elementary. The fun event takes place Sunday, October 25 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. It's a great time for the kids.... but... it's a fantastic business promotion opportunity! π There's no cost to attend or host a trunk, and last year there were hundreds of kids (and their parents) who strolled through the event. Glam up your trunk with something related to your business, and it's a great way to get the word out about what you're up.
P.S. While you're at it, did you know you can become a business member of the CFCA? Ask about it when at the event to get more details. π£ Don't forget about walking club!I updated the schedule through early December, so there are some new dates to add to your calendar. I also added three new locations for this fall! Head on over and check it out. We'd love to have you join us. Also, I send out reminders just for Walking Club via email. To get on the list, reply to this email and let me know or sign up on the Walking Club page. Your choice! π Ponder ThisIn this section, I share book recommendations, articles, podcasts, quotes, and other links I think Chadds Ford neighbors might find interesting. Let me know what you think. β½ What do you know about diesel fuel? How does it work, and what does it move? I bet you'll know a LOT more about it by November 3. π§ Whether you like a politician's policies or not, you can help bring back humanity and dignity to our differences by getting curious about this. I don't mean you have to choose his policies, but listen to his words. Listen to the end about "people are good." π€ Did you know AI could do this with social media content? Oh Boy! π§π»βπ» Speaking of AI, Bill Gates has something - or a lot of somethings - to say about it. So much opportunity for good and evil. π One of these days, they're eventually going to build that promised roundabout at Smithbridge and Kirk Rds. I can't wait, because roundabouts are so much safer. But don't take it from me. π³οΈ What might happen if all eligible voters voted? π§π»ββοΈ Glad to see our U.S. Senator speaking out about the importance of trusting and investing in science. β¨ Loving Connect Chadds Ford β¨While I donβt have any secrets behind paywalls, did you know you can choose to become a paid subscriber if you value Connect Chadds Ford and itβs within your budget?
